The Best Fire Pit Accessories 3/8/26
A fire pit alone creates a great backyard atmosphere, but the right accessories can personalize and transform your fire pit into an outdoor haven and central entertaining area if you enjoy inviting family and friends over.
From cooking tools to heating ideas, pokers and spark screens, here are some of the best fire pit accessories that you'll want and need!
Fire Pit Spark Screens
I would highly recommend a fire pit spark screen. Not only do they help prevent sparks and embers from causing an unsafe scenario, they protect your family, especially young ones and pets. The peace of mind alone is worth it. They also look very cool and can add some height to your fire pit.

Fire Pit Cooking Grates
Cooking grates are such a nice add on and instantly turn your fire pit into an outdoor grill.S ince I was young I enjoyed the smokey flavor that would be absorbed in the food that was cooked over my Dads fire pit. I suggest a heavy-duty grate. Grilling on a grill is ideal but every so often it's nice to cook over your open fire pit and this is where adding that grate is priceless. It changes the look up a little also.

Fire Pit Covers
Protecting your fire pit from weather is essential for long-term durability. A high-quality fire pit cover protects against the elements, some UV rays, and it probably will just last longer if you cover it more often than not. So using a cover can significantly extend the lifespan of your fire pit. I've notice this specifically with fire pit screens as well. They just las longer. Most good fire pits come with a spark screen and cover designed just for that specific fire pit so getting the right one is usually very easy.
There are multiple easy options for finding a decent fire pit cover if you passed on it initially when purchasing your fire pit.
Price range $80 -1495
Fire Pit Tool Sets
A fire pit tool set typically includes: A fire poker, log grabber, ash shovel and bucket, and maybe a brush. Personally I like a good strong stick that I find along one of my hikes as a poker. (I have quite a few) Also a great pair of fire resistant gloves. I like my Carhartt ones and I also have the longer ones that go halfway up the elbow made by Lodge. (they sell a lot of cast iron products, you've probably heard of them) Some fire pit tools are similar to an indoor fireplace set, but with outdoor fire pits, there are just more options. Let's not forget a good hatchet or small axe. There are the standard ones you can find at HD or Lowes or you can search the web and find those unique custom made ones just for your liking.

Fire Pit Wood Storage Holders
Tough to have a fire without some firewood. Having a sturdy place to store your wood is great. If your not a do it yourself-er with some pallets and a tarp, then a firewood holder is for you. Make sure to let air get to the wood, especially on the sides. Cover the top of the wood only. There are some nice ones out there typically in 2 to 6 foot wide sizes.
